Oh, the whinging...MAKE IT STOP. When a religious dictatorship is somehow installed over the course of the next four years, and I'm required to wear a fucking burqua and walk ten paces behind my husband, I will apologize to each and every one of you, in person. Right now, just get over yourselves. This virtual tearing of the hair and pouring dust over your heads is SO last last millenium.

And now for something completely different...The Wisdom of Chiun:

- A close second is not a desirable place to be in a battle to the death.

- Could and should are the same for a wise man.

- Think twice. Then say nothing.

- There has never been a shortcut to anything worthwhile.

- Beer is made from a grain only cows can consume, and even they need two stomachs to manage the task.

- Consider mercy for those with coin. Punish the rest.

- Trust anyone you want. But make sure you get paid.

- Do not breathe too deeply in a strange room. Foolishness is contagious and often airborne.

- When in a hole, stop digging.

- Even monkeys fall from trees.

- Tolerate the young, but detest the childish.

- Fashion is fleeting. Style is timeless.

- To leave big footprints in the sands of time, wear your work shoes.

- Stay sober at your wedding. It will never be that good again.

- If you would have four keep a secret...eliminate three.

Now. Everybody find their happy place. And that's an order.

What's the point in non-stop whining anyway? I'm on the other side of the fence, but I lived through the last four years and I'll live through the next four. Right or wrong, he now has the two terms to see his policies out - failure (or success) can't be blamed on the other party taking over mid-stream - and as always, history will be the final judge. Ob la di. Ob la da. Life goes on...

Tanya - Hey, if you choose to take that one personally... *ducking and running away very fast*

Robyn - See? This is why I made you the "Liberal Wussy" t-shirt, but I really didn't mean it. You're a Libertarian at heart, you just haven't realized it yet. :D

Ironically, the sack cloth and ashes bit is wildly counter-productive, if the long-term goal is to be poltical winners (vs. whiners). All it says to the 58MM who voted to for Bush is that they're evil, dolts, or dupes, none of which is likely to win friends or influence people.

I'm disappointed in the election, but not despondant. And I certainly hope for the best in Bush's second term.

Ah, the sweet voice of reason. That's the biggest problem I have with the whinging (since this is all clearly about ME)...the ones doing the hair-tearing (especially some Canadians who shall remain nameless...and despite their insincere protestations to the contrary) are essentially saying I'm a dumbass who couldn't vote my way out of a wet paper sack. Thanks for the love, people.

I hope for the best as well. Those who believe one single man with one single agenda can make the kinds of changes they fear so much, simply do not have any idea how our political machine works. Our system is called one of "checks and balances" for a reason. Nevermind, I could go on for days. Must cook pork chops and corn bread instead. :)
